Day 2: Amman - Wadi Mujib (Siq Trail) - Little Petra
After breakfast at your hotel in Amman, we will take you to Wadi Mujib for your first adventure hike. Enjoy beautiful views over the Dead Sea on your way, and get ready for a self guided hike on the Siq Trail: 2-3 hours of climbing, splashing, hiking, sliding, and jumping trough a stunning gorge! Follow the course of the river between towering sandstone cliffs to the base of a large waterfall. Depending on seasonal rainfall levels, there might even be pools deep enough to swim.
After a short break to change dry up and change clothes, we will then continue to Little Petra. The site, also known as Siq al-Barid (engl. the Cold Canyon), is believed to be a ‘suburb’ of Petra, and was probably meant to house traders traveling along the Silk Road. After some time to explore, we’ll head on to our home for the night – a Bedouin Camp close by.
Overnight: Bedouin Camp at Little Petra
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3: Hike from Little Petra to Petra - Petra - Wadi Rum
Today, we will enter the ancient Nabataean of Petra ‘via the Back Door’, avoiding most other tourists. Amidst high sandstone mountains a good track leads down Wadi Ghurab. The way then follows a Nabataean route out of the valley, and skirts round the final mountain on a natural rock terrace which has been ‘improved’ for the safety of walkers. Even so, it narrows slightly before reaching a hidden plateau high above the impressive chasm of Wadi Siyyagh. Just beyond, ‘the Monastery’ suddenly comes into view.
After walking the last meters to the impressive structure, we can rest for a bit, taking in the view. There also is a Bedouin café for refreshments. Then, more Nabataean steps will lead us down into the main site. We’ll make our way through a colonnaded street, past rock cut tombs, temples, and a Roman style theater, to finally arrive at Petra’s probably most famous building – the Treasury. Take your time to marvel at the façade’s detailed artworks. After a final look, we’ll leave the site through the Siq a narrow, high walled canyon, and then head on to the beautiful desert of Wadi Rum where we’ll spend the night.

Day 4: Wadi Rum - Hike: Jabal Umm Ad-Dami
Get ready to summit Jordan’s highest peak – Jabal Umm ad-Dami. After breakfast and long jeep ride through the stunning desert landscape (approx. 1hr), we’ll reach the foot of the mountain. The hiking path is very steep and a little strenuous, but overall it’s a moderate hike: it will only take you about 2-3 hours to get to the top and back down again (depending on your level of fitness of course).
Once you reach peak you will see – the stunning desert views were absolutely worth every effort! Standing at an altitude of 1854m above sea level, you gain a whole new perspective of the breathtaking landscape surrounding you. To the South, you can see across a wide mountain panorama far into Saudi Arabia, to the North you can spot Rum Village and the famous Seven Pillars of Wisdom at the horizon.
After the hike we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch cooked in the middle of the desert wilderness on a fire, and then return to the camp to relax and recover, and spend another night in Wadi Rum, enjoying the traditional Bedouin hospitality and a breathtaking night sky.

Today, we will take time to float in the salty waters, try out the ‘magical’ Dead Sea mud, relax by the pool, or pamper ourselves to some spa treatments – the perfect way to end the trip. Towards the evening we get onto the bus for a last time, and drive back to Amman
